What is asset tagging – and why it matters
Nexus is currently undertaking a project to asset tag all Nexus-owned equipment to support accounting and lifecycle management. The final stage of this process involves tagging assets located within occupied offices and labs.
Asset tagging involves labelling physical assets—such as laptops, monitors, lab equipment, and furniture—with a unique identifier, typically a barcode, QR code, or RFID label. These tags link to a central asset management system that records key information, including purchase details, serial numbers, maintenance schedules, location, and assigned user or department.
Implementing asset tagging helps:
