Nexus expands professional support services for members

As we mark the start of our second year here at Nexus, we’re expanding our member businesses’ access to the best professional services advice and support and are delighted to announce two new strategic partnerships.

Squire Patton Boggs will be joining the Nexus community as our new legal partners and HGF are joining as IP partners, offering access to a variety of support services for our members.

We’re continually improving and expanding the Nexus proposition to meet the needs of our community. As part of a recent survey conducted with Nexus members, they highlighted that both legal and IP support would help them address some of their ongoing challenges. Building upon the success of our existing professional services partnership with KPMG over the last year and based on that feedback, we have chosen two new strategic partners that mirror the Nexus values and will bring demonstrable and trusted support to our members.

Both organisations actively work with a wide range of businesses across Leeds and the City Region and beyond, and as such bring with them a strong understanding of the challenges facing our community and a wealth of experience to help solve them.

“Nexus brings together the brightest minds from business, technology and academia and we are excited to welcome Squire Patton Boggs and HGF to our community. For start-ups and SMEs to be successful they need tailored advice and we are building a network of professional services partners that can provide this based on their experience and skills. Both organisations have a long history of supporting fast growing innovative businesses and I have no doubt that they will be a very valuable asset to the Nexus community and help our members accelerate and grow.” – Dr Martin Stow, Nexus Director.

Squire Patton Boggs will be providing advice and expertise to our community on a range of topics including investment and fundraising, corporate governance, litigation and dispute resolution and public policy.

“We are delighted to become part of the Nexus community. The firm has acted on various projects for the University of Leeds over the past few years, and has a long track record of advising innovative and fast-growth companies and SMEs as they start and scale up, especially in the technology, manufacturing, healthcare and life sciences sectors. Our team is looking forward to sharing our insights and knowledge to help organisations in the Nexus community, as they develop, finance and commercialise their innovations, working alongside Nexus and their other professional services partners.” – William Downs, Partner at Squire Patton Boggs.

IP specialists HGF will be able to provide members with advice and support on patents, trademarks, copyright and database rights and a range of IP services and strategies.

“Nexus plays an important role in the Leeds City region in providing support and growing innovative businesses. Our firm is geographically well placed to provide support to the regional innovation ecosystem and is equally invested in the region. We are looking forward to providing Nexus members with our knowledge and expertise across the sector to help facilitate future growth.” – Andy Camenisch, Partner at HGF Ltd.

We look forward to working with our new partners over the coming months and seeing the impact of these new relationships.
