Tell us about yourself

Hi, I’m Thiago Bonfim, CEO and Founder of Caren.app, a health tech company that helps engage patients living with chronic conditions. For the past ten years, I’ve worked in the innovation space with companies ranging from a football social network, built alongside two legends, Ronaldo Nazário and Zico, to a fintech launched with a former executive from one of Brazil’s largest stock brokerages.

What does Caren do?

At Caren, we build an AI-powered care orchestration platform that guides people through their healthcare journey, day by day. Think of it as gamified self-care delivered through an app, WhatsApp, SMS, and email, ensuring the right support reaches the right person at the right time. We’ve already powered over two million health self-assessments, supported hundreds of thousands of people, and helped drive millions in avoidable healthcare costs.

How are you looking to develop your business?

Here in the UK, we want to connect with private healthcare providers, pharmacies, hospitals and the wider NHS ecosystem. We want to support the people carrying the weight of delivering better outcomes with small budgets.

Who in our community are you looking to collaborate with?

It’s brilliant to be here at Nexus, at the University of Leeds, surrounded by people solving problems every day. So if your organisation is stuck on patient engagement, care pathways or prevention, that’s exactly where we come in to help people take better care of themselves.
