Working With Students
As a Nexus member, you have the unique opportunity to host University of Leeds students for business-focused projects, gaining fresh insights to support growth while offering students valuable practical experience.

Could your business benefit from fresh insights from final-year students tackling real-world challenges?
The University of Leeds careers service is seeking short business-related projects for final-year students enrolled in the CSER3102 Developing a Graduate Identity: Reflective Practice for Informed Career Planning module.
This is your opportunity to collaborate with a group of talented students from a range of academic disciplines, who will work on a real-life business challenge over six weeks between February and March 2025.
Each project will be undertaken by a group of five students, with up to five businesses participating in this semester’s module. Students come from diverse academic backgrounds—including Economics, Maths, and Philosophy—bringing fresh perspectives and innovative problem-solving approaches.
Projects should focus on real business challenges where students can apply their skills, such as:
- Competitor analysis and market research
- Brand perception and customer trust
- Business development strategy
- Marketing and audience engagement
Each participating company will:
- Provide a short project brief outlining a real business challenge
- Have an initial one-hour meeting with students to clarify the remit
- Join at least one mid-project catch-up meeting to review progress
- Receive a 10-15 minute video presentation with students’ recommendations
- Provide feedback on student recommendations (criteria will be provided)
Companies will benefit from valuable insights into their business challenges while gaining exposure to talented students who could be future employees. Past participating businesses have included KPMG, Bradford Bulls, and Sugarhouse Properties, with companies implementing students’ recommendations to drive real change.
Key dates:
- Projects confirmed by w/c 10th or 17th February
- Students work on projects for six weeks, concluding on 27th March
- Final presentations delivered via video submission
