Tell us about yourself

Hi, I’m Lindsay Georgopoulos and I’m the CEO of Medipex. I started out my career as a scientist working in cancer research and during that time I became really interested in how you can apply research into the real world to deliver patient benefit. So, for the last 15 years or more, I’ve been working in roles where I’ve been helping innovators take their ideas through to market.

What does Medipex do?

So, Medipex is a small, not for profit organization that was set up to help innovators identify the best ideas for new health and care innovations and take those ideas through to market. So our multi-disciplinary team is made up of individuals from scientific and business backgrounds, and we all come together to support each other on projects where we are helping innovators with a variety of tasks. Firstly, have they got a good idea that’s worth spending time and effort on? Secondly, how can they take their ideas through to market? And thirdly, what types of evidence are they going to need to generate along the way in order to enhance adoption by end users into the healthcare system where it can then actually deliver benefits for patients and for the health care system itself.

How are you looking to develop your business?

We’re really looking to develop our business in the way that the market needs. We’re very aware, particularly in healthcare, that the market is forever changing. There are always new guidelines, new clinical needs, new ways of doing things, new products launching onto the market, and different types of evidence that people need to generate in order to attract, end users, but also, project partners as well. So, we’re always looking to evolve our service offering to meet the needs of our clients. We’d love to expand our network, increasing our engagement with the NHS. We have a really good relationship with at least 15 NHS organizations in the region, and we would love to expand that. But we also want to get the message out there on how we can help innovators take the best ideas forward through to market  and increase the chances of successful adoption into the healthcare system.

Who in our community are you looking to collaborate with?

So, we are really looking to engage and collaborate with innovators that we can help. They may be from the NHS, from academia, from companies, from charities. We’re also looking to engage with teams of people who help those innovators. For example, university technology transfer teams or NHS IP leads and anybody that supports innovators from any sector to take their ideas forward. But we also we have a very collaborative way of working. We recognize that we have real strengths in some areas like market intelligence, intellectual property value proposition development, but we don’t do everything. So, we’re always looking for other members of the network who provide complementary, expertise and support that we can collaborate with to co-deliver a lot of value for innovators.
